17 minutes, and one question we read before your CV
No cover letter. This form is four short sections, and the one that matters most is the third: a campaign-day situation on a large online store, and we want to see how you'd handle it. At the end you upload your CV, because we present the team's CVs to the client who owns the project.

Back End Developer (PHP / Laravel)
We're looking for a back end developer who knows Laravel well, for a large online store in Saudi Arabia. You'll be the first owner of the server behind the website and the app, and of its integrations with payment gateways, internal systems and shipping companies. This role is tied to a new project expected to start in November 2026, and the appointment is confirmed once the project is approved.
What you'll do
- Develop and maintain the back end that serves the website and the app.
- Own the integrations with the payment gateway, Tabby and Tamara, the internal system, shipping companies, and SMS and WhatsApp providers.
- Build scheduled jobs, such as on-time price changes and order and stock sync.
- Build reconciliation reports between the store's data and the internal system's.
- Improve database performance.
- Upgrade the framework to a current, supported version.
Requirements
- Strong PHP and Laravel, with 5 or more years of experience: queues, scheduled jobs, events and security.
- MongoDB experience, ideally used with Laravel.
- Designing and building APIs.
- Redis experience for caching and queues.
- Integrating payment gateways and external systems without duplicate transactions.
- Experience upgrading Laravel from older versions.
- Writing automated tests.
Nice to have
- Node.js experience with NestJS or Express.
- Experience with SAP or Oracle.
- Integrating Saudi shipping companies such as Aramex and SMSA.
- The WhatsApp Business API and SMS providers.
- Knowledge of PCI DSS and Saudi Arabia's Personal Data Protection Law.
Working conditions
- Full time and dedicated to a single long-term project, on an initial 12-month contract that can be renewed.
- Fully remote, from any country, on Saudi time.
- Fluent Arabic and English, reading and writing.
- Able to review Arabic and English pages and catch right-to-left layout problems.
- Previous experience on a live online store with electronic payments, offers and campaigns — not only brochure sites.
- Ready to work in shifts on Saudi time, Sunday to Thursday, and to take part in the emergency on-call rotation on Fridays and Saturdays.
- Ready for a heavier workload in the big campaign seasons — Ramadan, Eid, National Day, White Friday and the summer season — with advance notice.
- Committed to confidentiality and to protecting customer data, signing in to systems with a personal account and two-factor authentication.
- Working from a ticketing system such as Jira and documenting everything you deliver.
- Agreeing to your CV being shared with the client, and to a possible interview by the client.
- Available to start during November 2026.
Yes. It's fully remote, from any country, on Saudi time (GMT+3).
Sunday to Thursday in shifts, with an emergency on-call rotation on Fridays and Saturdays. You work the main daytime shift. The final rota is confirmed before you start.
The start is during November 2026, on an initial 12-month contract that can be renewed. The role is tied to a new project, and the appointment is confirmed once the project is approved.
Yes. We present the team members' CVs, by name, to the client who owns the project, and the client may ask to interview a candidate. That's why the application form asks for your consent, and we don't share your CV without it.
We don't list the salary in the posting; it's agreed at the interview. The application form asks for the monthly salary you expect.
5 or more years of PHP and Laravel, with MongoDB and Redis, plus previous experience on a live online store with electronic payments, offers and campaigns — not only brochure sites.
You'll get a written answer by email within five working days of applying, yes or no.
