17 minutes, and one question we read before your CV
No cover letter. This form is four short sections, and the one that matters most is the third: a campaign-day situation on a large online store, and we want to see how you'd handle it. At the end you upload your CV, because we present the team's CVs to the client who owns the project.

DevOps Engineer
We're looking for a DevOps engineer for a large online store in Saudi Arabia. The current infrastructure needs a professional build-out: separate environments, automated deployment, security, backups and round-the-clock monitoring. This role is tied to a new project expected to start in November 2026, and the appointment is confirmed once the project is approved.
What you'll do
- Run the servers and split them into three environments: development, staging and production.
- Build automated deployment, with a log for every release showing who deployed it, when, and what changed.
- Set up a web application firewall, a CDN and SSL certificates.
- Back up at least every hour, keep a disaster recovery plan, and test restores twice a year.
- Build monitoring and alerts: uptime, speed, checkout completion, payment success rate and order volume.
- Security updates and access management.
- Move hosting to a new provider without downtime, if that's decided.
Requirements
- Strong Linux, with 5 or more years of experience.
- Experience with Apache and Nginx.
- Experience with Docker.
- Running Node.js on the server with PM2 or containers, and running PHP.
- Automated deployment with GitHub Actions, GitLab CI or Bitbucket Pipelines.
- Backing up and restoring MongoDB databases, ideally with point-in-time recovery.
- Experience with Cloudflare or an equivalent firewall and CDN.
- Monitoring tools such as Grafana and Prometheus, or Datadog, with alerts sent to the on-call engineer's phone.
- Experience with AWS, Google Cloud or Azure.
Nice to have
- Experience with Terraform or other infrastructure-as-code tools.
- Experience with Kubernetes.
- Experience moving a live platform to new hosting without downtime.
- Experience with a cloud provider that has a data centre inside Saudi Arabia.
- Experience with Sentry for error tracking.
- Knowledge of PCI DSS.
Working conditions
- Full time and dedicated to a single long-term project, on an initial 12-month contract that can be renewed.
- Fully remote, from any country, on Saudi time.
- Fluent Arabic and English, reading and writing.
- Able to review Arabic and English pages and catch right-to-left layout problems.
- Previous experience on a live online store with electronic payments, offers and campaigns — not only brochure sites.
- Ready to work in shifts on Saudi time, Sunday to Thursday, and to take part in the emergency on-call rotation on Fridays and Saturdays.
- Ready for a heavier workload in the big campaign seasons — Ramadan, Eid, National Day, White Friday and the summer season — with advance notice.
- Committed to confidentiality and to protecting customer data, signing in to systems with a personal account and two-factor authentication.
- Working from a ticketing system such as Jira and documenting everything you deliver.
- Agreeing to your CV being shared with the client, and to a possible interview by the client.
- Available to start during November 2026.
Yes. It's fully remote, from any country, on Saudi time (GMT+3).
Sunday to Thursday in shifts, with an emergency on-call rotation on Fridays and Saturdays. You work the main daytime shift and take critical out-of-hours alerts in rotation with the full stack developer (DevOps-minded). The final rota is confirmed before you start.
The start is during November 2026, on an initial 12-month contract that can be renewed. The role is tied to a new project, and the appointment is confirmed once the project is approved.
Yes. We present the team members' CVs, by name, to the client who owns the project, and the client may ask to interview a candidate. That's why the application form asks for your consent, and we don't share your CV without it.
We don't list the salary in the posting; it's agreed at the interview. The application form asks for the monthly salary you expect.
5 or more years of Linux, with Docker, automated deployment and monitoring, plus previous experience on a live online store with electronic payments, offers and campaigns — not only brochure sites.
You'll get a written answer by email within five working days of applying, yes or no.
Shaping the future with you.
